Bangalore – Sept 2008

20 Sep 2008 In: General

I was really excited to go to Bangalore… Main reason being i was going away from everything and i needed that break badly! Another reason i was going to Bangalore after 13 years 4 months!

The airport Gate 10 now sports  swanky utvi lounge where one can sit and work on the laptop comfortably… The flight to Bangalore was un eventful as always… The Bangalore airport is nice! Loved the ample space they have once you step out… One thing which i liked was the choice of transport available for one to reach the city or any part for that matter… There are Volvo bus services which leave every few min…

The weather was fantastic… The ride to the city was nice… the first few min reminded me of the drive from abu dabhi airport to dubai…

I ask a friend to buy the book “The art of the start” and send it to me. He was told that it was the last piece they had. phew!

I leave at 6:30pm for Oberoi. I reach and as usual i go to Trident and am told to take the stairs and blah blah to go to Oberoi.

At the reception i ask Trupti if she can connect me to Guy’s room as i wanted to get his autograph. She was sweet enough to connect me to his room but alas there was no reply. Thankfully I knew his partner’s name “William” and Trupti connected me to him. Told him that i had met Guy yest and told him i will be coming to the hotel for his autograph. He was kind enough to tell me that he will inform him and that he might be taking a nap…

Guy Kawasaki – The Meetup

12 Sep 2008 In: General

Sept 9th: As usual i was just catching up on my mail at night. Dont know why but decided to check twitter feeds. Was surprised to see a tweet from Guy Kawasaki posting a pic of the bombay airport! I quickly smsed a few people if they knew why was he here and if there was a chance to meet him. In less then 30 min I got 2 phone calls a couple of sms and msgs.

Sept 10th: I had decided that i will follow the tweets religiously to figure out whats happening. Was surprised that Guy Kawasaki was at pinstorm! Wanted to call Asfaq and Netra if I can drop in for a bit ;)

The tweet meet was happening at Oberoi @ 7pm. Thanks to Netra who had arranged for everything and kept the entire community in loop. I ran from bookshop to bookshop to get my hands on “The Art of the Start” but no one had it. That was really disappointing coz i was reallly looking forward to get his autograph.

Good Morning Teacher!

5 Sep 2008 In: Friends, General

I been blessed to have three teachers to guide me till date.

First one was coincidence… I got admissions in Computer Science and i was like what the hell i dont want to do Computer Science there is absolutely no future in it. I applied for a change to Electronic stream. But i had to still attend Computer Science classes till my change was confirmed. My first Comp Sc lecture was by Prof Mukesh Tekwani and my life changed after that.. He talked about how computers are going to do everything in the future and what amazing things you can do with them. I was facinated and bowled over. I had to go back to the admin dept and tell them that i dont want to change over to Electronics and would like to stay back in Comp Sc… This was my first brush with Computers but i didnt know back then that i will be making a career out of it.
